Spiderman 3?

As most of you nerds, geeks, dorks, and fellow technophiles know, Spider Man 3 opens this weekend in most markets.  Is anyone else excited?

Sam Raimi has done an excellent job so far in showcasing the conflict of egos between an everday college student and a superhero.  As always, Peter Parker must struggle with what it means to live a real life and what it means to be the savior of New York City.  Continually dealing with the themes of power and responsibility, I think this particular hero resonates well with all of us.  He is the everyman, struggling to balance what is right against his own desires to have a real life.

In the next film, Peter Parker must face his own internal demons.  Not only is the man who killed his Uncle loose on the streets (with an interesting set of powers), his best friend becomes his worst enemy, and his mind/body is taken over by a symbiotic suit that later gives rise to Venom, a classic anti-Spider Man featured prominently in the comic books.

You can watch the trailer below.  I’m anticipating seeing it on Saturday morning, so I’ll post a full review sometime that afternoon.

From the reviews I have seen, they said it is the worst one yet, by far :(

    D’oh!

I read some of the reviews. Jesse is completely right. The plot is apparently a tangled mess. I’m still going to go see it thought, just for the cool factor.

  3. Durmiun/Jason says:

Heh, from what I remember in the comic books, the plot wasn’t too sensible back then, either :-P

  4. Christie and I will be watching sometime soon. It’ll probably be next weekend.

As an avid follower of the comic, I was a faithful reader until the introduction of Venom. With one fell swoop, what made Spiderman great became a massive marketing plot to get you to buy 6 different spiderman titles so you could follow the exploits of this innane villian. But I love the Sandman character, so part of me wants to see it and part of me wants nothing to do with handing over more $ to the Venom marketing machine. But, I’ll probably suck it up and fork it over. All I gotta say is the effects better be fabulous for me to put up with Venom all over again…
