"Watch out for those Head Crabs!"

08 Nov

While the boys are out camping in the beautiful landscape of southeastern Oklahoma, I am going to pass my lonely nights trying to finish Half Life 2. Yeah, I know it’s been out for like, evar. But while I sit and bitch that all of my Team Fortress 2 buddies are out playing with real life bullets and tannerite, I guess I really have nothing to do but honor their absence in attempting to save the human race from aliens.

I’ve played it a little over 10 hours now, and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that  Half Life 2 is the best fps (first person shooters) and one of the most addicting games that I have ever played.

I don’t say that lightly. It’s got a fantastic story, eye popping graphics and enough scares and chills to make even the most desensitized cynic, shudder. Even at 3 a.m. when I should be blissfully dreaming about Mike Rowe from “Dirty Jobs” taking off his… uh…never mind, I’m still up thoroughly engaged in the game.

On one specific night, when I finally did shut off the lights, I ended up dreaming about the game. The last time I’ve had pixels invade my slumber and haven’t been able to wake myself from it, was back when I was playing WoW.

Couple the unrest with a weird musical interlude from “High School Musical”, (hey, I was practicing with my son who had an upcoming audition) and well, it was probably a scene that even the best hallucinogenics out there couldn’t reproduce.highschoolmusicalcrabs.bmp

I never said I was normal.

Regardless, if you haven’t tried the game, please get it. You could probably hit someone up for a free gift pass, since anyone who is playing Team Fortress 2 right now, probably got an extra copy of the game when they purchased the entire Orange Box from Valve.

Anyway, if you’ve got your chin in your hand sighing wistfully about killing nasty looking turtles and blowing up Chuck Norris dolls strapped to tannerite-filled milk jugs, this game will definitely get your mind off of it.
