Damn Critics

When not pulling out of treaties, helping to supply the ongoing civil wars in the Middle East with outdated weapons and highly encouraging the Russian teenage population to have unprotected sex to rebuild the “Motherland”, President Putin has become the latest video game analyst/reviewer. Let’s watch as he discusses, “Call of Duty 4″.

Enjoy.

OH man, that was awesome. Seriously though, don’t buy this game unless you want to be pulled away from Team Fortress 2. The single player is setup very well. I have completed the first mission, and at the end you are treated to a cutscene where you are in the body of a foreign president. you can look around, but you are being dragged and placed into a car. you are then driven through the city streets to the place of your execution, all the while experiencing alive city all around you being played out in the game engine. It’s very movie like and it shows credits for the game during the first half of the cutscene like a movie would do.

The first mission alone had my heart pumping, and on “hardened” mode I died probably 10 times. Pete can vouch that I’m no slouch at FPS games, so it should be a real challenge when I go play through the game again on “veteran” later.

Now, having said all of that, the multiplayer is where this game shines. I can’t remember how many times my brother and I said “OMG this game is so kick ass!” during our first 3 hours of play. The realistic graphics are much smoother than I could have hoped for. My first multiplayer match was a team deathmatch gameplay type on a map called Downpour. Downpour is the kind of map I thought I’d never see. Realistic building placement, tons of foliage, and rain, lightning and thunder coming down all around you as you either rush forward to kill the infidels, or sit back and wait for a “target of opportunity” to present itself. The foliage makes the snipers in ghillie suits that much more deadly, I had 2 people walk within 10 feet of me while I was in high grass without being seen. That one match game me that old first time feeling of playing a FPS again, which is something I haven’t had in quite a while.

My brother and I played from about 3 P.M. to 12 A.M. without a break and wanted to play more, but we have work and school to take care of. Also, the game includes a RPG style leveling system which unlocks new guns etc as you level and is quite addictive in it’s own right. In 9 hours we made it to level 24 for me and 28 for my brother. I highly recommend you pick up this game, or if you are on the fence about it, find a friend who has it and will let you play a few rounds.
