Novel of the Year Wrap-Up

06 Dec

Popular vote gives the nod to Patrick Rothfuss’ Name of the Wind.

I really liked Name of the Wind. My review shows some of my regard for the work, but I find myself drawn increasingly to Blindsight. It was by far the most thought-provoking piece that I read all year, and as I said in my blurb on the book, I lay awake long into the night pondering the questions it raised. Watts is also underrated, missing the Hugo this year (he totally deserved it, in my opinion) and not seeing the marketing muscle behind his book that it needs to be truly successful. I think in light of this, my personal vote for novel of the year goes to Blindsight.

Don’t let this dissuade you from reading any of the titles mentioned here. If they made the list at all, they are worth your time and effort to read.
