Working on Alchemist…

…so no update for you.

What is Alchemist you might ask? Why, it’s my current project!

In a few words, it is a high fantasy novel loosely based on the structure of the Roman Empire and the social and political situation at the dawn of the Age of Reason. Mix in a little science, mystify it with an “arcane” oligarchy, stir in a dose of savages led by a sociopath, add a dash of warfare, and you end up with a world that has a great deal to explore.

You’ve been treated to a few podcasts in this milieu. I now have a loose goal of having the bulk of the novel completed by mid-February. I currently have 92,342 words that are organized into chapters. Note that even though this is “close” to novel length (100,000 words), the work is far from complete. Some of these chapters are mere sketches while others need to be placed into the overall narrative stream of the work. At two-three chapters a week for the next four weeks, I might have enough loose ends tied together to make this a structured narrative. That’s when the fun begins.
