Hurricane Gustav

Our good friend Lee Stephen writes this:

I can’t write long at /all/, but I wanted to touch base very quickly. Gustav is heading directly for my area. I am remaining behind with the rest of St. Charles Parish’s emergency personnel. If you pray, pray. It is all but a certainty that everything we have ever known is going to be submerged in 18-24 feet of water. The second floor of my home may not be high enough to make it.

You will probably not hear from me in a very, very long time – weeks, if not months. Don’t worry. We are emergency personnel, and we’re safe. Don’t take silence as bad news.

I don’t have time for anything else. Wish us luck, and if you want to stay updated with the particular parish I work for, go to http://www.stcharlesgov.net/.

Best wishes to everyone.

In addition to being a science fiction author, Lee’s day job is as an emergency coordinator for that part of the state of Louisiana. If you’re of the praying persuasion, please direct your prayers to the Almighty for the people in Gustav’s path.

Good luck, Lee.
