Where have I been?

First of all, here’s the site re-launch. We’re free of malware from the dirty, dirty Russian hackers who plagued my site off and on for a span of six weeks. The lovely Kate Baker and I finally traced it to a rogue file and a corrupt WordPress theme. Both are gone, and the site is back in business. If I infected you inadvertently, please accept my apologies (and buy a virtual condom for your computer).

Why did I stop posting? Well, it’s complicated. Facebook/Twitter provide the same outlet for oversharing that the blog does, and I can do it on my phone (even while sitting on a toilet!), but what these things don’t do is provide enough length for me to climb on my soapbox–and folks, let me be absolutely straight with you. The world needs what I’m saying from my soapbox. (The world really doesn’t need me on a box of any kind, but in my head, that phrase sounded punchy and arrogant.) I also celebrated the birth of my second child, a baby girl, who absorbs copious amounts of time. Add to that the fact that I’m training for a triathlon, about to finish my third novel, and you see how blogging has taken a back seat.

In a strange twist of fate, the more I do, the better I organize my time. That means I’ll be sharing my opinions again, with all of the sarcasm and vitriol that you’ve come to expect. As usual, I’m dealing with some struggles of the craft. I also intend to talk a little bit about my journey toward personal fitness, which has been neither easy nor pretty. (Ever run two miles, then binge on Mexican food, margaritas, and two dark chocolate bars? I have.)

Poke around the site and see what you like. I may be scooting some stuff around over the next few days. The categories are the same and available as menu items directly above the first post. The separate pages are available along the top. Everything, including my essay on Trapper, are still in place.

Happy reading, friends. It’s good to be back.
