Dragon*Con: This Weekend!

That’s right boys and girls! It’s my almost annual sojourn to Dragon*Con this weekend. I’ll be attending writerly sessions, taking pictures of all the freaks and geeks, and maybe even going in costume myself.

What do you think? Can I pull “Wash” from Firefly off?

I’ve actually tried to grow my hair out (usually finger length on top, number two clipper on the sides) over the past six weeks to see if I could make it work. I’m two shades too dark, but I can get the basic style down. The coveralls are helicopter pilot surplus from the local Army/Navy surplus store. The Hawaiian shirt is an $11 Macy’s special that is as close to Wash’s promo pic that I could get.

The collar on the coverall isn’t quite right, and I have way too many zippers.I did contemplate ripping the arms out of the coverall and substituting a black, long sleeve T-shirt underneath to get more of a “Wash” effect.

I’ll be taking the first chapter of my still untitled novel (gotta get a title on that one before ASAP), as recorded by Kate Baker, on CD for distribution to editors. I’ll have the iPad for some light internet research and gaming, and I hope to enlist someone to destroy with the Game of Thrones CCG. I have three strong decks (Lannister, Stark, Baratheon) and a draft deck that’s Targaryen. If anyone is going to be at D*Con that would like to play, look me up.

I’d also like to comment that the picture shows my face at the skinniest its been since I was married (nearly ten! years ago). This is me at sub-190 weight (and 33 waist). Compare that with some of the other pics on the site, and you’ll see what I’m talking about. I’m up to running over three miles at least three times a week, combined with swimming, cycling, and weight training. I’ve dropped by body age from 36 (when I started, and I’m only 34) to 26.
